I acquired a year 2000 GTI last year after swapping my mk2 loon for it, as me and my wife was expecting our first child thought I best get something more practical, this swap came up and I took it. Having owned one when I was 19 and loved it, I thought yeah why not. It's not in great shape and have changed my mind about just getting rid and selling it many times, you may have seen it in the for sale section. But seems no one wants these anymore as I couldnt give it away. So I have decided to keep it as a slow project.

Not sure what direction I'm going with it as a 27 year old, married, farther doesn't really suit a slammed polo with stretched tires rubbing on the arches like when I was 19. So my plans for now are to repair the body work, refurb the wheels.

Here is how it stands now

There was vinyl wrap on one front wing, as I took it off as carefully as I could, it took the clear coat off, so as it already has damage just above the headlight I have bought a new one off eBay which I have yet to pick up

Also has various scrapes the front and rear bumpers and also a good stone chip in passengers door.

My current plan is to repair these as best I can myself, I have also toyed with the idea of vinyl wrapping it black, as I have never liked silver cars. But I will give it a good detail first to see how it comes out.

I think my aim is to try and get it looking in tip top shape, will try to do most of the work myself may be slow going as I get little spare time nowadays.

Glad to see someone in the same age group with a gti I also just got mine last week father to one and boss of a moany wife haha.

I'm also 27 don't see the harm in lowering it and tarting it up a little asling as its pretty much oem! It's just the cash to do it lol

I'm aiming for the oem look to start with, where it will go after that I dint know. I always wanted to put banded steels on my last one, so they might happen. Tomorows job is to clear the garage out so I can pit it in three to work on.

Thought this had been for sale for ages?
