I know - swap the red and yellow wires, already done that. The head unit gets a good 14v when the car's on, but when I switch off and remove the key, the yellow wire drops down to 1-2v and keeps dropping at about 0.1v every 2 or 3 seconds until it loses all power (after about 5 minutes or so). I've tested it as far back as before the wiring harness so don't think that's the problem. I *think* my battery's good as I get a steady 12v at the terminals and no starting issues or anything... any ideas as to what's causing this?

 

(I am a delivery driver and this means I have to reset all the settings every time I turn the car on, which is literally for EVERY delivery I do in a night, and this is driving me insane)

I'd suggest finding the permanent live on the 6n loom, and making sure that it wires through to the permanent live on your headunit, have you got a multimeter? I'm assuming you do?

The red one is the only one that gives some sort of power once the car's off, so I swapped it with the yellow one on the harness - but it still slowly loses power once I take the key out and I can't figure out why.

 

Alternatively would I be better off finding a permenant live 12v from somewhere like the key barrel and connecting it straight to the head unit?

Have you tried putting the wires the other way round?

Before the harness, aside from the cables to speakers there seems to be only one live and one ground wire, and the live then splits into the red and yellow wires at the harness, and as far as I can tell that's the only source of power. Even when I connect my multimetre to that first red wire it still slowly drops once the car is off.
