Y21 SHH - 2016 Polo GTI RED

Featured Replies

Some of you may have seen my car elsewhere on the forums, but thought I would make my own build thread. Will update regularly with vids and pics. Owned the car since March 1st, only just hitting 1900miles.

Car Spec:

  • Flash Red
  • sunroof
  • sport package
  • DSG
  • reverse camera
  • Light Pack

Since owning I have:

  • removed middle silencer
  • added HEKO deflectors
  • red VW caps
  • GTI footrest
  • Gearbox Recalibration (essential after 1000miles on DSG box)
  • on-screen option of turning off/dimming the DRL's - through Vagcom
  • private plate

Got a lot more planned, mostly custom touches. Next on list is the fogs and interior lights (on order). then looking to wrap/spray skirts and rear diffuser Gloss Black, same with the wing mirrors.

maybe somewhere down the line... change the wheels to keep standards fresh and give a different look to the car. (budget of £250 - let me know if you are selling!! :D)

Considering an Air Intake to go in alongside the removal of the silencer.

Leather seat covers to keep the original tartan seats clean and fresh.

Will be back later with more photos!

Looks stunning mate - love the red! The one thing I would say is be careful which intake you put on. Spoke to Awesome GTI who are on the main specialists who work a lot with VW Racing, and they reckon

Looks stunning mate - love the red! The one thing I would say is be careful which intake you put on. Spoke to Awesome GTI who are on the main specialists who work a lot with VW Racing, and they reckon you can't get much better than what's in due to the space available for an airbox etc.. Only one which really fits I believe is a VW Racing replacement panel up to now, and some others will reduce the air intake!

Very nice ziishan, they do look good in red ;)

This is what I was told by VW racing too!  They said they are yet to come up with one for the MK9

Love the fogs with the brighter bulbs!  I also want that footrest!  Did you have to drill it?

H 8 Cree LED bulbs for the fog lights

the footrest had a rubber backing plus a self adhesive thingy, but me thinking it wont be strong enough also put double sided tape. The self adhesive would've worked on its own but the faffing about messed the stickiness... yeah just drilled and screwed it in. Which IMO is better as it stops it from moving about.

Bad news for me I'm afraid, gearbox seems to be dodgy/knackered. Booked into VW for June 20th at the earliest!! clunks/judders/rattles when changing gears, also seems to stay in low gears and high revs unless I give more gas to make it go up a gear. :(
