I hope i have put this in the correct section but i need some help. My polo 6n2 has been leaking oil/black fluid quite badly recently, the oil level has not dropped but the amount that has leaked out I'm sure would of made a difference to the level on the stick. I took a couple of photos and i think it is power steering fluid, i checked the res for it and it has gone down a bit. I am not very clued up on these things so a second opinion would be great. I hope the pictures are ok, was hard to get a good angle and was dark when i took them. Thanks in advance.

Looks like its the rack that is leaking, if you can try cleaning all that off, topping the fluid back up and running it for a couple of weeks so you can get  a better idea of where the leak is coming from..

It may or may not be power steering fluid, but as said above, try topping up the power steering, making sure that you use the correct fluid (normally a greenish liquid) but specifically made for that purpose.

If you can get an assistant to turn the steering wheel whilst you observe the area of the leak, you MAY be able to see just where it is coming from.

Do not drive with the reservoir empty, or you could ruin the pump (as well as not have any power assistance)
