9n Dashboard dead

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Turned my key yesterday and was greeted with nothing from my dashboard.... The clock, mileage, lights etc. are doing nothing. No back lights etc. If I flash the headlight I get the blue icon show up and the dipped beam light also shows. My indicators are working but not showing on the dashboard. I figured it was a flat battery so I put it on charge overnight. My stereo, interior lights, fuel pump etc. all work and make the right noises but still nothing on the dash.

Anyone able to help? I've Googled it and searched the forum but can't seem to find anything...

Thanks,

Shane

Have you checked the fuses ??

Checked all fuses. I've got the lights, mileage and clock working but no engine lights. Also car goes to start then cuts out, possibly immobilizer? Or is there a reset switch for the fuel pump?

I've been doing some work on the shock / tie rod recently so could that have made the car think it has rolled over or crashed?

The immobiliser is part of the speedo unit, so I'd remove it to make sure the connectors are clean & fully seated, if you can get the any fault codes read with VCDS but this might not be possible as the speedo is the gateway for the diagnostics and if its failed you won't be able to get anything from it.

The fuel pump/relay is controlled by the airbag to cut the fuel in the event of an airbag deployment, so that won't be the problem.

Took the speedo unit out, checked all connection all were fine except the black power plug. The connections seemed loose so I re soldered them but still the same issue. I've used my dads VCDS but it came back with no errors or codes.

I'm out of ideas...

There's three fuses for the dash #27, #20 & #10

Just double checked them all 3 are fine.

Sorted it! Turns out some muppet took a couple fuses out to test something on my mums car and put them back in the wrong place!!!!!! I feel so stupid now. :/ Oh well, learnt from my mistake.
