Hi guys,

So I figured I'll do a 1.6 supercharged polo 6n. I have all the calculations and all the parts there so all I need is time. BUT I need help with the clutch. What can I get to keep the 150-180 hp and not spin? Was looking in a few places, but can't find anything that would work. Any ideas??? Please help.

This is going to be very hard on the little 085 gearbox, and i've broke a few of them with carb'd AEE's.

 

As it's going into a 6n, i would personally use the MK3 Golf AEE block so that i could use the popular 02M Gearbox (nice long ratio one from a PD Golf4/Fabia/Leon etc), with a DMF. This would enable you to put the power down, and not eat gearboxes.

I have the Drive Torque stage 3 clutch with five paddles. When I bought it there was a choice of how many paddles are available. I wanted as much driveability as possible so I opted for five paddles which means the clamping force won't be as much. I havn't tried it yet but they say more revs are needed to get it moving.With the amount of power you are getting a LSD is needed so you will break the 085 later rather than sooner. If my 085 won't handle the power even after mods, I am definitely going to adapt a TKA automatic (Mk2 Golf) with modifications like LSD, extra clutches shift reprogramming and maybe manual valve body. After a few measurements it looks as though it will fit. It would be interesting to hear how your blower works. I ran a four cylinder Detroit Diesel blower on V8 which was great fun.

As far as I can tell It's a AEA block that's been updated to AEE top some time down the line. Originally it's a polo engine and it was in a mk3 golf before I got it. It has a 085 gearbox, what would I need to do to put the 02M gearbox in? As I also have a PD alhambra being broken in the back yard

MK3 Golf AEE had a different bolt pattern for the gearbox, was a different casting around the flywheel area. There is no adaptor plate afaik.

Id reccomend a good brand g40 clutch or a 16v 200mm clutch, im running 176bhp at the moment, standard 190mm did last for 5k miles though. Then it started slipping so fitted a g40 clutch
