Hey everyone!!

 

After a short break from Polo-ing I've recently bought a new (old) Polo!

 

It's a 1998 6N, and you'll no doubt have loads of questions from me over the coming months as I find things on it to sort...

 

Today's question is about what kind of mount/clamp/case I should have around the battery. Currently, there's nothing except the small metal clamp at the bottom holding the base, but apart from that there's nothing else...

 

On a 6N2 I've had before, there was a proper mount/case thing if my memory serves me correctly, and from looking at this:

(as PartsBase seems to have disappeared, sob!) I can see the kind of thing I'm thinking of... you can see the small metal clamp thing as part number 6K0803219 but there's no part numbers listed for anything else there?

 

Can anyone help with either a better website to get the part numbers from, or have a look in their cars to see what the part numbers are?

The 6N1 only has the small clamp with a single bolt

On the later 6n with AC and perhaps in European markets that are much colder they had a kind of jacket that fits around the battery. I have seen this on some 6n2 without AC. Makes no difference I'm sure, but they do exist. 

 

Only other thing that's different is the battery clamp. On 6n with AC it's a lot bigger and is also the bracket for the fan controller. On 6n2 with AC it's a bit bigger and is the bracket for the fan wiring connector. 

other then that everything else is the same.
