Front speakers in my 6N2 are crackly and distorted. I presume the rubber part has perished and that's why.

 

Is there any cheap alternatives to the standard speakers? I'm not after anything fancy or expensive. 

 

Just something that all my music won't sound like shit on.

Had a similar problem on the passenger door speaker in my daughter's lupo.

Did a little searching on eBay and found a nice new set of alpine speakers, including the adapter kit, delivered to the door for roughly 50 quid or so.

I don't know whether you'd consider that to be cheap, but I think the only way you'll get anything decent for less money is to buy an OEM replacement second-hand from a breaker.

If you want cheap go to a breaker and look through all the cars, doesn't matter what it is as long as the speaker is a round 7.5" 17cm one. 

This is where I get most of mine from in situations where I'm not fussed just need something that works :) 

sometimes you find nice new looking after market ones which is ideal because they use generic spade connectors. 

If it's not vag then chop off the connector and as much of the wires as possible then you can attach it to the polls wiring. Ideally you should do this with a solder and use heat shrink but crimp on butt connectors are fine just make sure they are crimped properly.
