Hi. Im new to the forumn. Ive recently purchased a breadvan. It was "rat looked" by previous owner. 

 

Got many plans for her. 

 

Eventually will be repainted in either

 

MINDIGHT PURPLE (skyline)

NEGARO BLUE (audi)

NARDO GREY (vw audi range)

or a very deep brown

 

looking on building a monster. I have read that engine conversions are alot of work. But ive got the time to spend on her. Looking at 1.8t or VR6. 

 

Anyone on the forumn attempted any of these? Help would be brilliant.

Always liked the single wiper conversion...

 

I've seen a 1.8T in the middle/back of a Polo. turned up at Polo social/show at Billings a few years ago. Has an awesome gearshifter and looked very uncomfortable but oh so cool. Best place for a heavy engine in a light car.

Don't know who did it. Perhaps lurking.

My intention are to take it back from rat look to a show car so will be in the front. Aint really bothered about too much power either because ive got my vr6 to turbo. So that will be my weekend toy lol.

Fitted lowering springs yesterday because my stock springs were dead.

Your Polo doesn't look too ratty so should be easy for you to bring it back and make her pretty again. 

 

Regarding the engine conversion, if you aren't too fussed about power then why bother with the work/hassle of trying to fit a 1.8T or VR6 in the tiny mk2 Polo engine bay? There are much simpler conversions out there that will give you a similar power (compared to a standard 1.8T or VR6) but will save you all the hassle of cutting up the chassis legs and having custom parts made up. People have put these engine in these cars but they have all been LHD examples on the continent and even then they are few and far between. We do get loads of people every year buying early Polos with the intention of doing a similar conversion but I'm yet to see one be completed and on the road. I'm not trying to discourage you though, just giving you the facts.

Yeah read up on cutting chassis legs. Looking at a 1.6 and 1.4 valver hybrid engine
