6N locks and unlocks by itself

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

After some good years with a g40 i just could not handle the petrol costs anymore doing 100km a day so bought a 97 6n SDI 1.7 :)

Recently it started playing up with the door lock doing the following:

- when locking the car with the key on drivers side it locks all doors doing the brrre noise and moving slowly the pins down l, but as soon as i release the key and the door lock returns to the normal position the doors unlock again.

- passenger door lock does not close all doors only that one

- inside the car if i push down the drivers down pin it only locks that door.

- if i remove the fuse ( it is ok) or the central locking cable to disconnect it, when i turn the key on the drivers door lock the pin does not move up or down.

- the fuse is ok the central locking has the pipe ok and is doing a correct brrrer

What do you think coukd be the prob?

Thanks

Welcome to the Forum.

One fairly common cause of problems with that system, is the breaking or wearing of the pipe inside the convoluted (flexible) connections between the door and the door pillar.

Not only do the pipes suffer, but the wiring for the electric windows and mirrors can also break down, due to constant flexing.
