Here is the car above for sale starting up from cold, the warning lights flash on ignition, the engine runs smooth and fine.

It idles at 1500 RPM for about 2 minutes when started from cold then the engine idle rpm is about 900 RPM.

Overheating

 

I took the radiator switch out with a 30mm socket and tested the switch on a camping stove with boiling water, the water was boiling and the two outer contacts on the switch never closed circuit like they should when being tested in boiling water.

 

I am going to repeat the test again because I just found out the radiator electric fan switch contains two switches, a Low Speed fan switch that is supposed to switch at 95 Centigrade, and a high speed Fan Switch that switches at 105 Centigrade. I will use a 60% water 40% ethylene glycol mixture for testing both switching circuits on a camping stove, with a continuity testing multimeter, because the boiling point of this mixture is 110 Centigrade instead of 100 Centigrade.

 

I wanted to find out what the fault was instead of just sticking a brand new radiator switch in

 

I fixed the thermostat, the were two pointless rubber rings on the back of the thermostat, one of the rubber rings was trapped in the valve blocking the coolant flow causing overheating. Before the engine started overheating, the engine never used to reach normal operating temperature so the thermostat valve was more than likely stuck in the open position for a while.

 

Block tester shows a blown head gasket, the blue fluid turns yellow showing exhaust gas in radiator.
