Confused wipers

Featured Replies

Hey polo people. Hope you're all amazing. The wipers on my '83 bready seem to be confused. Flick the switch down to slow speed and it goes the same speed as the regular setting if i flick the switch up one from the off position. Is this a sign that my motors are on the way out or just a glitch in the wiring? They do seem to be a little slower than normal.

Thanks for stopping by and any guidance you can give folks. Take it easy.

Does it ever halt mid-wipe? That'll be the motor. Or the multi-way plug contacts.

Mechanism's pretty simple but might need some lubricating. Lithium grease spray appeared to work.

Sounds like the switch should be investigated.

I did recently replace the indicator stalk so switch/contacts would be my first guess.

When i put them on the first setting, they go continuously for a bit and then just go to the breaks between swishes, which is what that setting is meant to do.

I'll have a crack with the switch cleaner.

Thanks dude. X

might be the wiper relay...

There's an upgrade you can use that remembers the last interval time for intermittent.
