Locations for The Polo Social (ClubPolo Show) 2017

We're currently looking for a new location to hold our yearly 'Polo Show' - The Polo Social.

After speaking to billing today they've decided not to host ANY car shows, Their excuse "Developing the site for more residential caravans" and a letter is going to be sent to all the car clubs explaining this. So, have you been to a car show recently or in the past which you think would be a good location to host our show. Ideally we're looking for camping site/rally field with facilities (washing/toilets/showers) with electrical hook ups.

Please post your suggestions below:

What shows do they host?:

Many thanks, and we look forward to your suggestions.

  • Santa Pod Raceway is a great site. Maybe get in with Big Bang in April or Bug Jam in July? Both VW events. Not sure how the finances would work.

Did you go to the right place? Loads more than 13 cars at the social the rest of us went to. Think we have a full spread from a mk1 to the current model.

Indeed, between 40 & 50 cars entered the show and shine alone and in that we had everything from a mk1 to a mk9. I also believe that we would have had a better turnout if it wasn't for the fact the dates were announced very late and people had already made plans that weekend.

Location: Santa Pod Raceway

What shows do they host?: Too many to name them all.  But the main one that would seem perfect for combining polo social with would be retro show. Usually hosted early July time it would provide all of the facilities needed for the event, and also have more to offer than previous shows. Retro show 2016 was combined with the triumph club gathering which gave them their own camping area and club stand etc. If this was possible on a smaller scale for club polo it would be ideal. Retro show is aimed at older cars, but newer ones are always present every year and still fit into the show, so this would be ideal for the polo scene.

I have talked to a friend, he comes over every year to your island to the bustfest with his T4 and caravan.

Three Counties Showground, Great Malvern, England

Size of 30 footballfields he said. A proper place for such a show.

btw: 96 miles in the west from northampton.

cheers

Yes Malvern Showground would be fantastic - another place might be Chateau Impney, Droitwich, just off J5 on M5! Easy to get too and they have a hillclimb :) http://www.chateau-impney.com/

Thanks for your suggestions, we are looking into them. Currently we're awaiting a reply from Malvern Showgrounds, I'm not sure that Chateau Impney has camping facilities nothing mentioned on their site, just their expensive hotel rooms :(

A lot of these large showgrounds charge mega bucks to rent their venues, one place we checked out last week wanted £1000/day + vat and another £500/day + vat for the use of the toilets !!!

As bad as Billing was, there was no cost to us for using the field & facilities, they made their money on you paying the camping/Day entry fees.

So please keep your ideas coming and we'll see if they will take us.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Just to let everyone know we are in the process of finalising details for 2017.

The location and all the information you need for camping etc. will be posted up as soon as possible.
