Hello there ! I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to retrofit a 9n3 cluster with the onboard computer to the 9n, I currently have the 1.4 75hp version and it's pretty basic (it has AC and ABS and that sort of jazz ) and I wanted to maybe fit the cluster and try to get a cruise control working as I travel to London almost every day (69 miles there and then another 69 back) and it would be good to have that sort of luxury ! I'm pretty new to the VW scene and the forum too so it would be nice if anyone has any sort of information about it or if anyone has done it before to help me out

If you were able to fit the later speedo ??  you'd need to wire up the column switches to select the different info screens and possibly an external temp sensor

hi there thank you for replying and yeah i agree, as for internal i recon i can tap into the AC temp sensor and one of the versions of the polo 9n3 has the selectors on the stalks, the difficult part is to find them and see if it will work

Just been looking at the wiring diagrams, there are two differences between the 9N1 & 9N3 speedo units, on the main 32 pin Green connector, on the 9N1 pin 3 is not connected but on the 9N3 it's the Dipped beam warning light & pin 4 on the 9N1 it's the oil temp & level sensor input, but on the 9N3 it's not connected, all the other pins are the same on both of the connectors. Pin 31 is the outside air temp sensor input, it's not showing as being connected to the aircon system directly so it probably gets the info from the speedo via the CAN bus wiring

Thank you for the information, it sounds all good then if all the wires are there already, do you think it will he a straight plug and play ? 

The speedo unit will plug n play, just on the 9N3 there is a warning light for the dipped beam but your wiring doesn't have this wire and it doesn't use the oil temperature & quantity sensor input. The wires for the "multi-function display" might be there but you would have to check (pins 11, 12 & 27  Blue/Green, Blue/Purple & Blue/Grey wires) the outside air temp sensor is on pin 31 Brown/Yellow wire & pin 32 Brown/Blue wire
