Anyone around belfast reset airbag light 6n2 Polo?

Featured Replies

Hi guys this is my first post on here,  I've a 6n2 Polo and was having probs with the horn and traced the fault to the steering column not being earthed thus not completing the circuit when the horn was pushed,  anyway I disconnected the battery and removed the steering wheel disconnected the squib etc...  But needed to put the ignition on for testing etc,  now the airbag light is on,  I'm quite confident that I put everything back together and the fault was because of ignition was on with the steering wheel removed..

Is there anyone that can reset the airbag light for me around belfast for beer money?  I've tried local garages but most are wanting to charge me 50 quid and they say it's the squib that needs changing before they plug in and won't even listen to what I have to say...

Any help appreciated

☺️

First Welcome to the forum.

You are correct, the fault will of been latched when you put the ignition ON with the airbag not connected, You'll need someone with a CAN lead & VCDS to reset the light as the airbag control unit on yours only connects via the CANbus system,  unfortunately your a bit too far for me to help :(

Hi Nige

Thanks for the welcome and advice,  just remembered I've an old cable I had for my vw t4 that I used along with vcds lite many  moons ago to activate cruise control,  will have to dig that out and see if it will do the job....  On a side note,  is there any regional sections on the forum?

A lot of the VCDS/Vagcom leads just use the "K" diagnostic line, to reset the airbag unit it needs to have/use the CAN bus connections.

Regional sections are not something we've thought about, there is the regional meets section http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forums/forum/71-local-meets/ we also have a members map http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/membermap/ where members can add their locations, so you can see if there are members local to you

Thanks again,  I'll give the lead a go if I can find it,  probably waste of time but no harm in trying,  I check out the local meets too ?
