MK2 Jetta GL 4+E

Featured Replies

Make: Volkswagen
Model: Jetta
Year/Reg: 1988 "E"
Mileage:115k + (daily driver)
MOT: may 2017

Good points:

solid as a rock underneith, runs really well, pretty powerfull, real nice drive.

loads of new parts over the past 3 years.

GTI cam, Dizzy, and exhaust (to backbox) (1.8 litre engine)

GTI interior (drivers seat has a bit of wear)

rear tyres are a few months old

original pierburg carb works 100% (just like fuel injection!)

doesnt use and oil/water as you would expect

has never required any welding.... ever!

exhaust recently

no internal water leaks.

HEATERS WORK PHENOMIALLY

never over heats (regularly goes on long runs)

430 miles to a full tank at about 70 mph

a superb example. I am in NO RUSH to sell

Bad points:

bubbling the size of a 5 and 10 pence coin on the bottoms of the rear winscreen

drivers door has some minor rust bubbles

minor scabs on roof

super small ding in bonnet

minor scratches here and there (it is 28 yr old..)

lifters a bit noisey from cold, quietens down when warm (never really bothered me, nor has it got any worse)

Price: £2100 -

IDEALLY WOULD LIKE A SWAP:

MK2 COUPE s

mk2f GT (breadvan or coupe?)

mk2 GOLF 1.3/1.6/DIESEL

PASSAT OR SOMTHING OLD AND VAG FROM THE SAME ERA?

must be solid with MOT.

ideally also AS FACTORY AS CAN BE.

with a little cash my way if there are mechanical issues (no problem for me) or if i dont think it matches the value of my car
