Hi i have a persistent squeak on the heater blower motor on my polo mk2 i've heard this is a very common fault sometimes there's no squeak on the second and third setting  i've sprayed motor oil on the bearing facing the battery side of the motor the squeak went away for a few seconds and then came back is there only one bearing in the motor or is there another one ,  are there any special places to spray the oil ..regards mike

There will be a bearing at either end of the motor casing, if you've lubed the one behind the fan and it's still making a noise, it'll be the one on the other end of the shaft, you'll need to remove the motor/fan and strip it down, to lube the rear bearing or replace

Hi can the motor be removed from the housing when still on the car  or does the  whole heater box need to be removed then split it to get the motor out

You can split it on the car. Two M-shaped clips that slide off left and right. I can't remember if that let the motor be removed. Would make sense for the heater matrix and valve to stay in place on the bulkhead...

i took apart mine and got as far as motor out , but could see how the fan comes off so couldnt lube that end
