Put new speakers in my 6n2, all worked ok until i turned them up.

radio cut off and won't turn on.

checked all fuses in fuse box and behind radio as well as two in line fuses.

all are ok

disconnected the speakers to see if that made a difference, made no difference..

swapped red and yellow wires and it made a sound as if the disc thing was spinning

put a cd in it and it took the cd off me but won't play it.

 

thought it might have just been display not working but doesn't work even if i go through the settings as if it was on

 

any ideas

Are the new speakers of the same impedance (8 ohm or whatever) as the ones that you removed?

If, for example, your new speakers are of less impedance (4 ohm, maybe) there is a good chance that you have damaged the output stage of the amplifier. BUT before you spend your hard-earned cash, it is worth checking that it isn't simply due to a 'cruddy' connection to the speakers, as high resistance in the output can result in little or no sound.

If the old speakers worked OK, try reconnecting them close to the the set itself, this will eliminate any high resistance in the wiring.
