Polo 6n Clocks switch off

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've got a late polo 6n that has the clocks with the fuel and temp in the middle, it's all been fine but now when I switch the engines off the power is cut to to the clocks meaning it loses it's time and the trip counter, when you switch the battery on in the ignition power comes back to it and it makes that rattling noise. Otherwise works fine.

Any ideas?

Check fuse # 27 5amp as that's the live supply for the speedo clock memory

Right, so I've replaced the fuse, it worked for a second then blew. I reckon it has might have had something to do with the interior light because it's off the same fuse so I unplugged it and tried another and the same thing happened.

What do you think is wrong now?

The other things supplied by that fuse are the Diagnostic socket & the boot light, so I'd disconnect the boot light and see what happens

OK, so I've pulled the bulb for the boot (was dead anyway and has been for a while)  and the fuse has stopped blowing. I'm not sure how a dead bulb can cause a fuse to blow unless it has a dead short but I'm not complaining!

Cheers for the help

In the end it was the boot light causing the problem, I removed it and the fuse stopped blowing, I don't know how a blown bulb can cause a dead short but at least everything's back to normal!
