i've got a problem with the steering lock on my vw polo mk2 i'm finding it to get the lock off when i put the key in sometimes its easy and other times it seems stuck and i have to wiggle the key even then its hard to get off i have tryed oiling it  and its just the same ,  the problem started about a month ago when i took my car to the garage to have the 2 front struts  changed  i think they left the steering lock on when undoing the track control arms, and damaged it as the fault was not there before that. can i change the ignition barrel on its own  is this an easy job

sometimes i have to pull hard on the steering wheel to turn the key, depends on weather the wheels are straight somtimes 

i had no trouble getting the steering lock off before last month or even the last 10 winters just used to jump in the car  stick the key in  and lock was off, this is more like if somethings getting stuck almost like wrestling with a bear to try and get the lock off then another time i try its  simple its like pot luck

It is a 'bit of a pain' to get the lock off.

If you are sure that it was OK before the garage worked on it, why not go back and ask them to put it right.
