Opinions please....

 

I need to get new plates made up for my polo. Shall I get these pressed or not?

I do prefer pressed plates, I would recommend them I have had them on a few cars in the past and it always stands out..

yeah I have them on my fiesta st and really like them but my partner thinks they will look naff on the polo.....

 

I might just get them and see what they look like.

I say yes but I'd do them without GB on them 

Love pressed plates!  I have just ordered mine for my polo and already have them on my T6.  I think they will look awesome on your car.  I have gone for without euro flag or GB.

I would certainly recommend the autostyle ones, got them on my polo from new and very happy with them

totally legal, no badges or borders - just a high quality plate that won't delaminate like a plastic one does

The dealer gave me some extra really strong double sided stuff to stick it on solid too. Tbh what I had would have probably done the job, but I feel better knowing they're not going anywhere 

 

funny nowadays loads of people where I live seem to be having loads of trouble with plates falling off, especially the fronts. Well I keep seeing them driving with them on the dash behind the windscreen 

When I used run pressed plates between 2004 and 2006, they used to get lots of attention good and bad as they were newish.

Biggest issue was the police didn't like them :)

I'm sure most used to get them from dubmeister.

Police don't seem bothered now, but you watch I will get pulled now lol!  Mine are apparently legal ones?!?

People like Autostyle on eBay supply the fully legal kite marked pressed plates for around £20, I've had them on all my cars (6n2/mk2 scirocco/Corrado/G40) and they last way longer than plastic

 

You can either stick them on with the pads provided by the vendor or use plate holders (like the very nice ones we have in our shop....hint hint )

I've ran pressed plates for the last 3 years. Not once have I been pulled. 

 

I do like a nice set with the GB euro strip (personally) for proper European steez. Best with plate holders - like pretty much all vehicles (including lorries) in Euro countries.

 

Only downside I've incurred is in the event of an unfortunate roadkill animal collision; they can get dented. However they can usually be manipulated back into a decent shape. The positive of this situation is that they don't crack like plastic might. 

 

Why as a country do we accept dealerships slapping shitty old plastic plates on high end cars? They look crap and don't last. I wondered whether it was due to theft or something stupid; screwing them in to reduce the ease of removability. 

 

More likely its because plastic ones are cheaper and easier to make and someone got some pushy marketing going on them when plastic was new and thus consequently "cool". Like pvc windows - they look shit, but you don't need to paint them and they were new once upon a time; and the uk resident loves to feel like they're one-up on the nice person next door/keeping up with the nice person with the new shit. Or perhaps reflective technology was first available in that format.. (I could google it but cba).

 

Imagine you just took delivery of a brand new £40k motor and some chump has wound self tapping screws into your brand new bumper wherever they fancied. Then over time the screws rot and you can't even get the twats undone without molegrips. 

 

Nation of bodgers. You wouldn't catch the Germans doing it like that.. or the Dutch. 

 

So it's wooden painted windows or pvc windows?

 

Aluminium pressed number plates or plastic shite like every other nice person.
