Can anyone shed some light on this, I've bought 2 bosses now for my Mk2f and they are both the correct large spline but neither fit and they are utter garbage. Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent boss that actually works?

In what way don't they fit? Do they not fit onto the splines? 

 

I've found the cheap eBay ones are a hit or a miss whether they fit or not. You're best getting a genuine boss like MOMO or something along those lines.

Ah thanks, they just wouldn't sit down far enough, I had one cheap eBay one and one that claimed to be a momo. do you know if a 6n one will fit?  sure I've got one somewhere. 

Yeah that is the issue I've found too, they don't sit down far enough to cancel the indicators or make a good connection for the horn. 

 

6n uses the same spline so should fit fine it it is a good one.
