Got standard 165/70x14 steel wheels on my 03 Polo 1.2S 12V

Looking to upgrade to alloys. Got chance of some 205/50x15's

Anyone any idea if they'll fit ok? 

Tyre size wise they are a little on the big side, a 205/45/15 would be better. But apart from that as long as the bolt pattern, offset and width aren't too drastic on the wheels themselves then they should be fine.

Cheers. Tyres already fitted & brand new. Told they may be a bit large & may struggle on full lock etc? Don't want to waste my money obviously!

BTW just double checked & tyre actually 60 not 50?

205/60/15 will be too big I'd say, an extra 40mm in diameter compared to your old wheels. Doesn't sound like a lot but it may very well cause you issues on full lock especially if you're lowered, the tyres alone will raise your car by 20mm and the extra 40mm in rolling radius will put your speedo way off. It would probably be under reading which won't be good for your driving licence.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Take it a straight swap for the 185/60 x14 standard alloys would be ok? 

Whats the best size for a 15" for a straight swap do you reckon? (or even a 16"?)

Car has standard suspension (not lowered)
