Total MK2 clearout

Featured Replies

So i've written off the Coupe S 1.6 16v and am leaving it to be scrapped directly from the compound - shame as that's a great 150bhp+ engine, but i just can't justify the cost of getting it home to break it up.

I'm left with a ton of shyte at home in boxes, plus a breadvan. It's all going, i'm packing up.

I don't know what half of it is, everything from bike carb bits to lights, loads of glass, full panels, two 4-sp gearboxes and a 5-sp 6n box similar to 8p just got bearing whine.. HK and AEE engines.. It's all gonna get tipped. I have an almost complete and respectable MK2F Genesis, gotta be lifted away, that is also imminent - anyone wanna bring a trailer and take the Genesis you can have it, it's fairly clean and tidy, nearly everything is here, bit of work it could go back on the road, engine bay is half stripped and front seats are in bits. As it stands it's all gonna get lifted.

I'm not messing around with bits, can't be doing with breaking, selling stuff off, no postage, i'm out. I have a select few parts i'm putting on ebay and in the parts topics but that's it.

Sorry to hear this Mikey. Hope you heal up well!    Hope you you don't disappear completely from the Polo pages.. You know some shit!

  • Where's @Vio? He could have that back on the road within a week, spinners and all! Glad you're ok!

You unhurt ? Are you sure this decision is not just crash shock trauma ?

I considered reshelling it with the breadvan but I don't want it. I don't need a car, it was just a toy, this year it was finally perfect so it's all been done. time to do something else.

Sorry to hear this Mikey. Hope you heal up well!

Respect.

Just don't let anyone make you laugh (I have had a cracked rib from taekwondo).

You still thinking about that 10:1 combustion engine design?

At the moment i'm missing the thing a bit, the whole Polo thing has been my thing for some time, i need to detatch and move on. I long don't care for Fords or Minis, and they were once all my efforts, so...

I'm open to questions people have on their projects though. I'm gonna sling a load more photos into the gallery and leave it there. But i've stopped following Facebook pages. Might still come along to some meets, not ruling out Aldon if i can hitch a lift!

My engine design was unique but it shares the fundamental concept of the vane engine. I designed mine before i'd ever seen another, got the idea from a vane vacuum pump, but i think now engineers are well onto that avenue. There's probably no future in combustion engines though, there are a lot of things i wanna do, and as i live somewhere with a full shared pedestrian/cycle network my next project is likely to be an electric bicycle - i already built a petrol one.

Some random pics appropriate to the topic (AEE engine is available), inc a couple of my bike builds...

Oh mate so sorry to hear this and see what happened... Hope you heal up quickly. We all know we are taking a risk using these old cars on today's ever more dangerous roads- I'm sad to see this happen to you tho, your car was probably my favorite on here and your posts too. All the best
