Mk2f loom wire ident.

Featured Replies

Hello guys/polo guru's

so I've taken my engine out of my GT. So many butched things going on from previous owners/garages.

Im tidying up the looms and I have one of the looms in hand.  Starting from the fuse box end the one with the white connection block on it. I have wires labels up.

1. connection to the engine loom

2. washer fluid

3. Heater blower

4. Window wiper and brake fluid reservoir.

5. engine thermostat

6.  Engine coolant reservoir

7. ???? (Thin blue wire, red & black thick wire) is this my lambda sensor?

8. ????? (Thin black cable with green and black inner core) this wire has been snipped.

any help would be apreciated. or any wiring diagrams please.

James.

7 joins to the alt /starter loom

8 not sure, could be for the head sensors but they are normally blue and yellow

could be dizzy

Moved to correct section...

As said above number 7 is the alternator/starter plug.

Number 8 is it inside the scuttle? Could it be the fog light wiring?

Cheers for the reply.

7 will get labels up now.

Attached is a picture of the loom itself. Number 1 being the bottom of the photo going up. 8 is the very thin wire. It was just hanging in the engine bay.

Im presuming it's from in there as to the other sensors that end of the loom and the rubber bung to support it going through the framework.

could be a sray from some hacking about. its not normal for one wire to be on its own unless its an earth

will check my spare loom and see if its the same

Cheers mate. ??

I thought it was random being a single wire.

Its good a green and black striped cable inside

long connector on the right should be lambda sensor

Nah if that is the part of the loom that runs inside the scuttle then fan is correct.

I've labelled all as I have take them off it's just the wire that's been snipped now that isn't apparent.

i thought fan but looking at mine it had 3 green and a white to the plug

its possible its not an origial gt loom. could be a modded nz

Also there is this. I believe it maybe the alarm. As the guy o bought the car off said it had a issue with the alarm. The blue wire is a switch that isn't made when the bonnet is down.

Yeah that isn't standard, must be an alarm of some type.

Dare say the dash wiring has been hacked into as well then.

I hate it when people use chocolate blocks!!

The good thing is get a dash loom from a CL or something and they are the same as a GT so should be easier to find a replacement that hasn't been butchered.
