Long time since I’ve posted about the polo!

Shes still going strong! With 123k on the clock I’ve done about 20k with her since buying. Absolutely love driving the thing as she just munches the miles. Have total peice of mind when driving between Falmouth and Brighton. 250 mike trip feels like nothing.

Living down in Falmouth though hasn’t treated Gen well, tailgate has started to blister a little along the top and the small scratches and dings which remained fine in Sussex have decided to start rusting. Have not got a drive or hose so proper cleaning is a rare thing indeed. Feels horrible to see the condition slowly deteriorating.

So, petrol smell has continued in all the time I’ve owned the car haha, new fuel filter on the other day which seemed to be a temp fix but the smell quickly came back.

The idle of the car has also become somewhat jittery, with it stalling on rare occasion. Really not sure what this is linked with, thermostat? Rotor/dizzy? (New sparks not more than 3-4K ago)

Accident damage has also been somewhat repaired however I’m finding it difficult to find a front valance in the UK, or a company that will ship to the uk.

Below are some pictures of my time with car.

Hey CP,

Exciting news today, atleast for myself.

Bought a new set of shoes for Gen.

K.N engineering starmags.

13x7, not sure on et but they look somewhat deep.

Ordering a set of 185/60’s tomorrow to wrap around them.

Real nice condition and just require a wet sand and polish to bring them back up to mirror shine.

High mag content, lightweight also.

Anyone have any experience with fitting 7j wheels on a 2f? Looked at the lows thread and couple on there which looked sweet without too much poke but any advice would be appreciated

Wheels are on the car after some fiddling around with tire sizes.

initially went with 175/60 so not lower the car too much but resulted in bad rubbing on all corners. Those tyres were replaced with a set of 175/50’s Nankang as1’s which are really nice. Sidewall extends past the lip of the wheel meaning no obvious stretch but also some slight stretch. (Does that make sense? 😆

Tires are catching on the rear ever so slight which is getting sorted this afternoon with a dremel to the plastic arch.

Car has is also lower due to the 40mm decrease in tire diam, this has also shortened the gear ratio which is fun! (I’m aware speedo is out by a tad)
