Polo 9N2 Remote Central Locking

Featured Replies

Ok, mate of mine bought a cheap kit to install remote central locking on his Polo. It's a 08 reg 9N2, the one that looks like this:

Wired it in, the relays are clicking, but I am getting nothing from the door locks at all.

I followed this thread mostly, but just no sign of it working. As I said, the relays click on the button press, but there's no response from the lock actuators.

Now, I've taken some photos, but here's the thing, there's a white and blue wire down behind the bonnet pull, near the carpet, and there's what looks like a white and blue (although it could be light grey and blue) coming in the large loom of wires from the entry from the door. Either way, short of hacking that massive loom of wires and seeing if there's some inside that I've missed, I can't really see where I've gone wrong? I've grounded the yellow and yellow and black wire as well.

Bizarre to say the least. :(

So,

I've had another go today, absolute nightmare this is becoming. Maybe the box is dead?

So, I put a multimeter across both the blue and white wires (one of which must be blue and grey).... the one in the loom coming from the door itself, doesn't do anything. The one in the footwell by the sill, this one seems to pulse anywhere from 0.8v to 0.11v when you lock the car. So I'm pretty confident it's this wire.

The problem is, when I put my multimeter on the box lock wire, it's sitting permanently at about -0.5v..... give or take. This then bounces to 0v when the lock button is pressed. That to me makes absolutely no sense..... is it a wiring issue? Or is the box broken? or am i just misunderstanding the box itself? I've tried various combinations of the negative/positive pulse locking scenarios online. None of them work.

Come on, someone must know :(

Those universal boxes are not really suitable for the 9N3 as it switches different resistances for the lock/unlock signal to the CCM so I would rip it out and get the correct CCM as listed in the FAQ's in this section
