ive got an '89 mk2 saloon and i was wondering if you can change the crappy hubs for normal ones, say from the 6n2 gti as id like to lower it and put the 6n2 gti brakes on it too.

Mk1 Golf GTI hubs fit and people have then welded the Polo steering arm onto a mk1 Golf coilover to make the setup work. If you can get the parts and weld then it is a cheap way of fitting coilovers to the front and also getting some camber adjustment too. 

 

The 6n2 GTI hubs won't be such a straight swap as they use a different ball joint design.
