AP lowering spring advice

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Basically I've fitted new bilstein b4 shocks and AP lowering springs (40-30). I've been driving it a while and it seemed ok but I noticed that after a while the steering would go light and what happens is, as I'm turning the castle nuts are undoing themselves. I jacked the car up and the front springs don't really sit properly in the upper spring cup. The aperture in th spring is too large and they are sliding side to side in the top cup.

Are these springs no good? Are they designed for different top cups? What are my options do you think? Rears are fine.

Thanks guys

If you bought the springs new I'd be going back to AP and asking them to double check they sent you the correct springs. I know people that have run AP springs with the standard top caps with no issues so they do make springs that fit.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I'll be able to return them as bought them from demon tweeks over a year ago. Annoying as they weren't the cheapest and I initially wanted eibach ones but settled with ap. Does anyone have a spare couple of front springs they're not using (40mm or 60mm)? PM me.

I presume the castle nuts coming undone is a symptom of not enough pressure on the top cup from the springs as they're moving around?

Thanks for your help

No they still move at the top where they should be seated. Just a tiny bit too wide at the top. Seems to be chase the problems around the car time at the moment
