how do we fit them to the fixed arm

Good question.

I'll have to look at mine. I know the LHD arms are different... less bent on my steering wheel side than RHD (so not the one I adjust for tracking) but I think its end might be replaceable.

looks crimped on to me?  isn that what the ribbed effect is , where a machine has crimped it on

 

i suppose it can be cut/drilled and tapped
