No G though right? haha

Not even close

I'm going to keep these bumpers though. They're in good nick but a little grey. Come up fine with a load of Megs Gold Class trim detailer:

  • Well, I think I've reached the point where it's done. Easy to drive, fast, fairly comfortable. It works well, and I'm tempted to leave it as it is. This position has taken me 15 years and four month

  • Took it to C&M last night for the StrassenKultur evening and… well this was awesome.

  • Soooooo... new stuff. Bought these, haven't got around to fitting them yet. Or, do I go back to the half-tinted and clear lenses? Not sure. I've also discovered the answer to a question I didn't w

i really want one of them CLS mercs in a way that i find lady ga ga slighty attractive.

I don't think it's shameful at all. It's a fine looking car, great to drive and they do a CLS63 AMG if you've got shares in Shell...

This is what i think..and i do have a fair wad invested in shell

Cruising on the motorway on Friday, with a couple of POWERRRRRR drag sessions I managed to average 42.8mpg in the 350CDI that I've got this week.

WITCHCRAFT.

The interior is back in, and it's now clean of dust, mud and splatters of cutting compound.

I've also fitted all of those clips and bits I bought... bar the wiper stuff. Steve Morris is hooking me up with those this week. The last bit of the jigsaw!

Sat in my office at home and I hear a G40 outside.

Doorbell rings and I'm right - on the doorstep is Steve Morris, and he's dropped by to drop off the missing wiper grommets. The final missing piece for the resto, and I've got it!

To put this into perspective, Nottingham to Kettering is a 96 mile round trip. Bloody legendary, I really can't thank him enough! 8)

Shows there are some bloody amazing people in this scene!

After a muddly couple of weeks tying up the last loose ends, today I finally had a chance to get back up to Eastcote Customs (Perkins) to tie up that last 1%.

We ran out of time when I picked it up, so I drove it away unwaxed and in need of one last mop. Today, that was my mission.

That's not to say it was looking bad after two weeks of being rained on!

Got in early, thought this was a nice pic :)

It's interesting what you don't notice until the rest of the car is immaculate. The boot has been used to carry all sorts (including the engine, gearbox etc) and with that nice shiny strut brace in there it was looking a bit scabby.

So I trimmed the suspension turrets in acoustic carpet. It's not perfect, but it's much better.

Spent the rest of the afternoon waxing the paint, then giving the bumpers a blow-over with a heat gun to revive the colour. The result?

And with that pic, I'm done. One fresh looking G40 - ready for DC tomorrow!

Very tidy indeed!

Looks lovely Alex 8-)

that really does look great... can't wait to see it at BVF.

top notch mate, its all the little things which make the big difference. you not tempted to colour code the rear brace?

  • Author

The rear brace is colour coded - it was painted with the car :)

Took the G40 to DC11 today - and for the first time in 11 years I came home with a trophy! :o

I'm amazed! Stopped off on the way home to take some pics. It's been a long old journey, this. I'm so happy to finally have something to show for 11 years of patient modifying. :)

Saw this at DC today, looked well smart!

Still not feeling the rims though :-(

Looking really nice Alex, Not heard of DC before? when I get to a stage where I need mine doing like this I will be cheeky and ask how much but not till then ;)

Amazing man, just looks sooooo clean! But still I have to say I still prefer the Speedlines.

  • Author

That's cool, I quite like these because they're not a 'safe' choice.

But I definitely prefer then Watanabes. I think they look spot on, plus they're lighter, wider, lower offset and in much better condition too. My favourite wheels that I've had on it. :)

Looks sick. Centre caps and give that exhaust a good buff and you're done and done.

  • Author

Thanks :)

The hunt for suitable centre caps is ongoing. Annoyingly I don't see myself finding any before the show season is over :(
