My 6n1 polo has developed a water leak which is resulting in the passenger front footwell getting very wet.

I have taken up the mats and folded the main carpet back to let them dry. The underfelt  is absolutely drenched and has been removed completely. I've cleaned any leaves etc. from under the bonnet and have cleared the drain holes too.

I've now removed the glove box to try and find where the water is coming in. So far, all I can see is that the leak is above and to the left of some kind of round motor which is to the left of where the glove box sits.

Any help comments and advice on what I can do next would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks 

Round motor bit is your heater fan housing, as youve cleared the drains under the bonnet (any signs that it was holding water?), i would start looking at the seal where the air feed for the fan is. 

 

Also if it has a pollen filter it may be worth renewing that if it has got wet.

The pollen filter is completely dry. The top of the motor is dry but I will double check any pipework and seals there before anything else.

This happened to me in 6n1. then i saw coolant level keep dropping. it was going in there . sure it was something to do with the heater fan.
