Hi, after recently posting on here and getting some fantastic help I'm back to ask again.  I have 94 1.0 boulevard and it has manual mirror adjusters in the door panel. They don't work although I think the cables are still intact as occasionally there is tiny movement detectable. Is there a way to repair or improve the function?  I currently wind the window down and have to frequently move the mirror glass by hand.  I'm only a novice and not very experienced with cars so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 

You can sometimes free them up by taking them off and running some 3in1 oil down the cable.. Pull a bit of string through with the adjuster lever when you take them off to aid refitting. 

Please bear with me as I'm new to having to jobs on an old classic like this but to help me understand, am I right in thinking I remove the door card, pop off plastic cover where the mirror connects to the car and then pull the mirror off and the tie string on adjuster and pull the lot through to the outside of the car and then oil the cable and refit is the exact opposite? Isort they're anything I've missed or is likely to prove too tricky for a novice?  Thanks in advancefor any help.

Wind the window down. 

 

Pull the knob off the mirror lever.

 

Pop the trim off that covers the mirror screws. Same for the window winder and grab handle screw covers. 

 

Slide the trim off the door release handle (forwards on a mk2, think it's backwards on a 2F, could be wrong though).

 

Undo 4? Screws at the bottom of the doorcard, and all the ones you uncovered. 

 

Work the door card off from the bottom to the top. I find a butter knife works well to ease the clips. 

 

There's a big nut holding the mirror lever in place, think it's a 22mm.

 

Tie a bit of string to the adjuster lever.

 

Unscrew the mirror, take it off and pull the cable through.

No worries. If you can get a can of WD40 or similar with a straw onand give it a squirt around behind the glass, that can also help a lot. In fact, I'd probably try that first thinking of it.
