Hi all. This is making me pull my hair out!

i bought my 6n2 a few weeks ago; it had no stereo in it. What it did have was an aftermarket cage fitted and a loom adaptor for an aftermarket stereo. 

 

Ive purchased a second hand oem gamma with seperate CD player. I've removed the cage, disconnected the aftermarket loom leaving only the standard vw plugs. When I plug the stereo in I have the flashing red led. If I turn the lights on on the car the stereo buttons all light up red, however there is no power to the display. I have the code ready once it fires up. 

 

Ive checked and changed the under dash fuse and also the stereo fuse on the back. Does anyone have any ideas? I've heard the gamma requires two 12v supplies but looking at the black connector (not the brown speaker one) it looks un-tampered with. Does anyone have a picture of the wires coming out of this connector so I can see if they have been swapped around? I have heard of this problem before so would like to try and explore all avenues before writing off the stereo.

There should be 12v live supply on pins 7 & 5 ( Red wires ) from fuse # 42 and 12v on pin 4 ( Brown/Red wire ) fuse # 16  anytime the key is in the ignition switch, regardless of engine running or not

Did you ever get it working as I have just bought a gamma and mine is doing the same thing

Faulty radio. Purchased another in the end and it worked fine.
