one door doesn't open; central locking

Featured Replies

Hi all.

My 2006 9N 1.4 TDI Polo Nearside door occasionally doesn't unlock with the rest of them when using the drivers door key. (the remote for my after market alarm used to do this for me but that doesn't work anymore) When i get in the car i have to reach over to pul the door lever to let my wife/passengers in.

When using the central locking inside the car; from the button situation on the drivers door, this locks all of the doors most of the time but occasionally the button/rod in the passenger front door  goes down briefly only to pop back up straightaway! I can reach over and press the rod down myself but it is not convenient.

Any ideas.. is this a DIY job perhaps?

appreciate your insights.

First Welcome to the forum.

The Door locks have a microswitch in them to tell the system it's locked/unlocked and they are a known failure item.

Here's a link to get the part number https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/polo+derby+vento-ind/po/2006-461/8/837-837000/#1   the locks can be found on ebay for around £20~30

They are relatively simple DIY job to replace, there is only one thing to make sure of, the cable # 17 in the link, it goes to the outer handle and it needs to be refitted in exactly the same notch otherwise it can stop the latch from working correctly, and it has been known to make it impossible to get the deadlock off & most people only find this out after they have refitted the door card and then can't open the door to remove the door card to re-adjust the cable end notch position

Thanks nigel8021

Now i know what i'm looking for!

I had a quote to fix the alarm but it was stupidly prohibitive.... I'm wondering if there is a model of the 9N that has remote locking and i'd be content to fit those parts than waste money on another alarm. The car is 11yrs old and locked away mostly :)

Thanks again. I appreciate your help.

I fitted my own parking sensors a year ago. there is a YT video of it... do you think it's worth posting here to help someone thinking of doing it; I like to help as well as being helped?

Grab a cup of tea/coffee and have read through this

There might be some pictures missing due the problem with Photobucket, but it's littered with the correct part numbers for the bits required.

If you want to try this, it couldn't hurt to make a posting in this area https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/60-general-car-chat/  to see if there is someone local that might come and give you a hand, or look on the members map https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/membermap/  to see if there is anyone close to your location.

Regarding your YT for fitting parking sensors make a new post in this section, then it can be moved to the pinned section by a staff member so it doesn't get lost in the other posts
