Hi guys.

Recently bought a g40. It came fitted with a  performance subframe of unknown brand. Since then i have discovered that the wheels scrub on the arms that replace the antiroll bar. This has led to them undoing. This happened while driving at speed.

The arm came away and has bent.

while i could have new ones made (fairly sure i cant buy them) however i feel that the car could just be returned to standard as in the long run this would be safer. Meaning i need a g40 antiroll bar.

my question, are they the same as a standard 2f bar? I intend to polybush the car etc with a standard anti roll bar as i see this will give me the safest handling.

Is buxton a member on here? Havent been on the forum much so a bit out of touch with polo people.

Would it be worth getting inner arm bushes to? Assuming i can get them from somewhere. I already have rear beam bushes.

i have messaged a few people from the ‘breaking’ section To ask if they have the bar spare to buy. Ill put an add up in wanted. Hopefully get one soon.

Little bit of a thread resurrection. But ive managed to track down a guy selling an arb. Hes said its off an g plate (88/89?) mk2 1.3 ranger. Trouble is he sent me photos of this. And it looks different to all the ones i found photos of. 

So will it fit? Or is this an earlier 4 speed arb?

fyi im pretty sure it’s upside down in the photos.

That look's like 4 speed ARB to me. I'd expect the protruding section to be offset and much wider. Here's  a stage Ppp subframe with 5speed ARB

Has it just bent the rose joint not the actual link?

 

If so you'll be able to source a replacement joint cheap enough.

 

Looks like a PPS frame btw.

Lots of people have either PPP or PPS frames PPS are no longer in business as far as i'm aware.

 

People have different opinions on each frame manufacturer/ supplier.

 

5 speed and original setup sounds easiest option for you. plenty of 5 speeds get broken have you check the classifieds section for sale or put up a wanted ad?

 

 

 

 

 

Cheers guys! Ive spoken With another member on here and have sourced a five speed arb, and arb blocks, the car is already polybushed so will now be able to handle properly but without the fear of the wheels scraping on suspension parts. Which im pretty sure is an MOT fail?

i have confirmed it is a PPS frame however. Another member of the forum now has it.

Unfortunately it wasnt just the rose joint that was damaged, as harris suggested, the thread (left hand thread to) was buggered which would have meant remaking the arm for best results. Hence my choice of replacement with an original arb like jake said.
