Hello all, and Happy New Year!

 

The ABS light on my dashboard has been illuminated for some time now I have scanned the car for DTCs and the only code that comes up is  01276 - ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64): Signal Outside Specifications I have checked the fusebox ontop of the battery and all connections are clean and all fuses tested good continuity

I have recently bought a used complete abs pump from a breakers yard and made sure it matched the exact same letters and numbers as the one on my car  ( 6X0 907 379B ) even down to the numbers on the motor casing are a match

would I be able to just swap the control module over or would it needed the coding to be changed

Have you cleaned the ABS speed sensors on the wheels ?

If it came from another Polo then it shouldn't need recoding but as the same unit is fitted across the VAG range there is the possibility that it would need recoding, if you have VCDS/VAGCOM you should be able to see the "softcoding" of your current unit, then plug the replacement in and see if the coding is the same

That fault code has nothing to do with the sensors

Hi Nige, Thankyou for your response, when I found the fault code I made a note of the ABS module coding which read 05603,

I swapped out the module today with the breakers yard replacement and the coding on that one read 06623, also now on the dashboard with ignition on,  the red  ( ! ) light symbol is now flashing accompanied with 3 beeps then just remains flashing with the abs light still on, and DTC's now reading 01042 - Control Module; Not Coded.

 

also, thanks for the link thats a great guide on the abs module repair with bad solder joints, I shall cut mine open tomorrow and have a look at it,  if i do manage to repair my original one, would you recommend reverting back to that one or just coding the replacement one I currently have installed at the moment,  I was worried about me sealing the unit back up making sure no moisture gets in, I am hoping to keep this car for a long time as my last polo I had for 7 years and it was only a 1.0 MPI haha

 

 

If you have full VCDS then you can just recode it to the same as your original if you don't have the full version it might pay to try that fix and refit the original
