Petrol Tank help

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys been fitting a new fuel tank on my mkf2. The tank came off eazy enough and the new one was installed. I tried to start the car it was trying to idle and cut out I know there was only about half a gallon in the tank I thought this would be enough. I checked the pipework and the large pipe from the top of the tank had come off the neck of the tank and it was also trapped between the tank and the bottom of the car. Problem I have now when attached to the neck of the tank it's kinked and it's till getting trapped when. any tips appreciated

I've circled the pipe in question  the new tanks connection has a slight curve to it. it's doing me nut in.

If the pipe is long enough, just cut off the bit that is kinked and re attach.

Or, replace the pipe

Before re-attaching, pop the end of the pipe that is going to be bent into some hot water (off the car), the pipe should become supple when hot, bend into a curve as it cools,  when its attached again, it kinda remebers its shape and doesnt kink so easily.

What happened to the hose clips on the fuel pump hoses? They DO need to be in position for the sake of YOUR safety.
