Been offered a refurb Bosch Alternator with 2 year warranted for AFH 1.4 16V 1998

Can someone please check part number and also the info below.

That part number doesn't show up as being fitted to any 97~99 Polo

on both of these i checked it does.

 

I wonder if the part number is assigned to a newer batch of alternators.?

 

 

the difference is 028903025H one is 70amp and the other 028903025QX is 90amp.

You say that you have been offered a BOSCH alternator, but the links that you have provided lead to a 'Rotovis' alternator - not a make that I am familiar with (that doesn't indicate that there is anything wrong with 'em though)

If the rotor or the stator windings of an alternator are faulty, that probably precludes an economical repair, but all parts are available, and working on an alternator is not that difficult, so replacing brushes, slip rings, regulators and rectifiers just needs care in carrying out the work - you would need a puller though, especially if you are fitting new bearings.

Just DO NOT use high voltage to check insulation on regulators or rectifiers - or other parts if those two components haven't first been removed.
