Alternative throttle body for 3f

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

I am collecting parts to build a 1.4 abd engine with 3f upgrades (intake, wire loom, injectors, ecu and camshaft)

Trying to find a 3f throttle body, which is pretty hard to do.

Am planning to put a 268 camshaft and 180 ml injectors in, in the future.

So a slighty bigger diametre throttle body might come in handy.

So are there any oem throttle bodys that anybody knows of, that might be a upgrade to the 3f one?

Go for a 270 cam and 200cc or 249cc with a golf afm

You can port, dewedge and flatten the spindle on the 3f tb for better flow. You can have larger butterfly valves put in but will need a donor as they are time consuming to make unless you find somene who got the experince to do it fast / cheap

The problem is more that i cant find a 3f tb, so i wanted to use another oem vw one that would fit and have a somewhat bigger diamtere.

Ive got one somewhere in thw parts bin

Problem with the 3f one is bow the top elbow mounts as most otherr vag have the tb horizontal on the inlet and a jubilee to hold a duct on

I have found a 3f throttle body.

It is said to be "dewedged"

What doe that mean?

Try to find info on it on google, but no luck yet.

if you look inside they have a wedge bolted onto the butterfly , looks like a mini orange segment ...removing this removes a slight restriction but its there to smooth responce at lower openings so may make the car jerky to drive at low speeds
