My 6n2 automatic has just started playing up this morning. It starts ok and will pull away, but then shakes and judders at low speeds especially when standing at lights etc. When I pull away it feels like there's no power, and seems to take ages to change gear. I was going up a hill at 40mph earlier and by the time I got to the top I was barely doing 15mph. The car has only just had a service and MOT 3 weeks ago. I have no idea what's wrong!!

Most problems with an automatic come down to fluid levels in the gearbox or blocked filters in it, but I would start by seeing if there are any fault codes logged in both the engine & gearbox ECU's as not all codes will trigger a warning light, you will need a VAG based code reader, preferably VCDS/Vagcom

It finally cut out altogether this morning, in the middle of a very large roundabout of all places!! Had Green Flag out and seems like it may be the coil packs misbehaving so that not all the cylinders are firing correctly. Left it with my regular mechanic so I'll find out for sure in the next couple of days but at least replacing all 4 will be a lot cheaper than dealing with gearbox problems!!

The 6N2 only has one coil pack, it's only the 9N1 or newer that has the individual coil packs 

Well, had the coil pack replaced.....behaved for a couple of days but now is doing the same again, revs dropping when I'm waiting at lights or junctions then when I try to accelerate away it takes a couple of seconds for the engine to catch before I get the revs back and pull away.

Did the Green flag mechanic scan it for any fault codes ? as that might point to either the camshaft or crankshaft sensor that controls when the coilpack is signalled to work 

No, Green Flag just gpt a local recovery company to tow my car to a garage, had the coilpack done there. I have no idea if the mechanic scanned for codes or not.

In that case I would suggest before you have any other random parts replaced, get it scanned for fault codes, as not all will put on the warning light
