Hi Everyone,

 

Having just found out about a FB site I've just found out about the club so thank you Matt for pointing me in this direction.

 

I saw my Derby originally advertised on eBay through UKD and having owned one in the past i kind of fell in love with it. I went to see the car and purchased it and UKD are lovely people.

 

The car seems totally original (Im no expert) and i gave the car to my local garage to give the once over and sort out the fuel smell, Thermostat and poor running which was really just a tune up. Lots of the rubber parts had perished and i had all the fuel line and shocks changes as well putting on a new set of boots. I also found a new indicator unit on Ebay in Spain bland new in the box as the indicator played up a bit and chuffed as i have a red hazard switch now as have to be honest even the one i owned 20 years ago was pink 😂

 

At the early part of this year i photographed the car and although it never sees the rain with me and is garaged all the time i could start to see the rust. As a bit of a perfectionist i took it along to a well know local restorer who loved the fact that i took in a standard and unusual car which they had not seen for many years. We talked for about an hour about leaving it totally as because of the milage but admitted it had a bit of rust.

 

In the end i decided along with them to bite the bullet and get them to restore it. Good decision as once they had stripped it back the surface rust which we could see was worse than first thought. Anyway to cut along story short her is a link to the car now which i hope you guys like and can see what a little beauty she is. This video was taken on Thursday when i had it all polished and ready to be put away for the winter and i hope you like it 👍

I was the second owner of this car. It's an amazing time warp. I'm glad to see it is still being looked after. Although I wish I hung onto it a bit longer after seeing what money was being asked for it last time it was up for sale!

Well we know you will look after it and it does look MINT.

Yes i saw that you used to own it. To be honest i think UKD thought it was worth a lot more than actually anyone would give for it so i paid a lot less than when i saw it originally on FB but they had rented it to i believe channel 4 or 5 for a film they were making but i never saw the film or been able to find out anything more about it. 

 

Like you say its a time warp and i have spent a bit to get it restored and repainted, Serviced, lots of perished bits replaced and the like but i love it and hopefully next year will enjoy getting it out on the road and too a few shows
