Window screen replacement advice

Featured Replies

Hi I am looking for advice on replacing front window screen on my mk2f ? I have new one with rubber seal ready to go.

I have the dash out at the moment so I'm thinking it might be easier to install new one while it's out etc.

  • You could do it by yourself but far easier with two, one inside with boots on the screen and the other outside easing the rubber seal into position or the other way around, pressure on the outside and

doesnt make much odds...goes in with the dash in too

Yeah I got a can of silicone spray. Apply to rubber and car probably best.

Neat washing up liquid is all I've used in the past

Ok. Is it a one man job ? Did you use strong string help guide the seal over the lip ?

You could do it by yourself but far easier with two, one inside with boots on the screen and the other outside easing the rubber seal into position or the other way around, pressure on the outside and easing the seal from the inside & yes good strong string, paracord strands is one of the best to use

done mine myself

watch that the rubber flips over the metal lip , once its popped over you will need to use a closed fist to thump on the outside of the rubber to seat it

better to do it on a hot day when the rubber is softer

Ok great thanks. As for rubber I may soak it in warm water if we get no sun . It's sounds very much like a two man job.
