Hi guys let me know if this is in the wrong section!

 

Really hoping to change my polo 1.3 mk2f to a g40 engine; was looking to do a 1.8t but recently decided a g40 conversion would be more suitable. Just wondering how complex/possible it would be. Also any info on sourcing an engine. I presume it would fit quite nicely as the front end is oretty much exactly thr same...

Mainly want to know if the g40 swap would require some kind of engine management and how i may go about doing it as i cant find much info online! Any info would be amazing thank you so much.

all a direct swap , make sure you get the full engine loom and ecu with the engine , and fit a g40 spec fuel pump if yours is spi

Brilliant thanks for the speedy responce; do you think its possible to do myself? I am currently building a second garage around a car pit for easier access; just not sure on how to go about finding a guide for such things but willing to give it a good go.

There is a guide here. 

It is a fairly simple conversion if you have all the parts, getting a complete conversion can be the hardest part. They are often missing parts of the loom, ancillaries or fittings due to people not being careful when they rip them out.  

I personally did mine in 7 hours, that's driving it into the garage and driving out. I don't claim to be a mechanic either.

One thing I will say is it is probably the most expensive plug and play conversion you can do. A decent complete plug and play setup will set you back the guts of £2k these days, then you also really needs to think about brake and suspension upgrades too.

There are much cheaper options that will get you close to standard G40 power for half the cost or less.

These cars don't need lots of power to make them fun.
