A few months ago with the encouragement from a few close friends of mine I took the leap and decided to buy a project car.

After looking around for a while, nothing seemed to catch my eye.

 

So the search continued, and one day I stumbled across a little MK3 polo for sale. 

The car was advertised as needing painted .... LOL 

So I went to view the car and this was the shape it was currently  and actually the way I bought it the car surprisingly needs little welding but has had the interior ripped out as previous owner had planned on turning into a van but hey ho I'm sure you guys on here will help guide me to completion of this project.

There has been a lot of changes and planning this last few months which I shall update you all with soon.

That doesn’t look to bad.  To be fair the interior on these are pretty rubbish.

so I was at the Classic car show in the NEC in Birmingham. 

 

lots of ford stuff there and I Really Really like the Recaros that came in the RS Turbo escort,

I think I am going to buy a set of these and make them fit lol 😂

 

I wonder has anyone done something like this before? 

time to look through he forums I think!!

 

It’s been done but you may have to weld in different runners dependent on the new seat.

 

easie going for a genesis polo interior or gt interior.

Hey Guys , Pardon my absence. 

For many reasons I am only getting back to make some progress on the polo now with a clear plan now set out, and steps taken to getting me well on my way! 

 

I am now planning on modifying a lot more on the polo than originally planned 😂😂. 

 

Firstly i got it home reassembled it turned the key and headed off for a drive, (on a private road of course!) 🤫

Everything bar the fuel gauge worked, and before the comedians start yes there was 20 litres of petrol put into it! 

 

It was at this stage I was set on doing a full restoration back to standard! 

 

Of course thought the little devil on my shoulder started speaking and a few evenings flicking through the internet I stumbled across a Mk2 with a 1.4 16v AFH on carbs, it was a video on youtube the sound was enough for me 🤤, My Plans quickly changed from a resto to a full show build. 

 

I have spent the last 12 months sourcing, purchasing and researching. 

For many the 1.4 16v is a simple conversion, but not having ever done a conversion before and having no previous experience on petrol engines, i would much prefer to have my homework done before I start. 

 

so fingers crossed my build thread is a little less boring in 2020 as I have just completed my first engine Rebuild, you guessed it a 1.4 16v AFH

 

At the current moment I am awaiting the arrival of a danst engineering inlet manifold and Gxsr throttle bodies, to say I am excited is an understatement!

The reg looks familiar, did you get it in Belfast? I remember one similar sat up a driveway for a few months last year
