Gear stick gt box

Featured Replies

Hi there

Wondering if anyone can shed some light on my gear selector problem, getting 0 tension when in neutral and going left to go up to first/ reverse or second, however when moving from left to right to get to fifth there is tension, not sure if there is a spring in the box that has maybe broken?

Thanks for having a read and would appreciate any help

  • theres no spring on the gear lever so must be an internal fault imo

  • Definitely internal - one of my gearboxes has the same issue in that one of the centralising springs has gone soft. It's been that way for 10 years now - I'll be sorting it when I get my LSD serviced

It is a long while since I had anything to do with the Mk2/GT, but it is almost certain that the problem is with the gear lever or linkage, rather than being in the gearbox itself.

I am quite sure that someone with a definitive answer will reply, once that they have read your post.

Regards
