In the spring '2017  the clutch was broken, when i was driving up to the home where i living, the clutch pedal has dropped down by the action of foot and not moved up.

After towing the polo to the garage, I have started to unscrew
 gearbox:

When I removed the box, a part of the clutch bearing fell out of the clutch casing, and at the moment I understood - clutch is wasted))

A new clutch kit was ordered, but components from different manufacturers:

clutch cover that was broken and which is broked out a clutch bearing is rightside:

Also have changed the bearing pilot and clutch release fork lever.

Then I opened the box to replace the second speed synchronizer assembly:

I also had to inspect the fuel tank neck, because fuel was leaking on parking place:

And so I again faced the limitation of 2Mb and now need to bow out, bye everyone.

I live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I bought my 1997 Polo Genesis about eight months ago without an engine and exhaust system. Just as in Russia, these Polos are scarce here in SA. I have been battling to find an engine since I bought the car.

 

It warms my heart when I see so much love go into a car as you have displayed and I admire your courage to take on a project such as this, knowing that you will face challenges due to lack of spares/parts.

Hi all, I continue my story about my smurf, last post I finished in the beginning of a story  fuel tank neck.
  Since I can't use a welding, I bought an epoxy repair kit, in which contains - fiber glass, and epoxy with hardener.
  Then using own hands I used that kit on the fuel tank neck.

The following work was performed on the handbrake system.

My handbrake was worked very bad, sometimes was not turn off, because a brake cable was old,

and from another car,  presumably from the Lada.

Some people very often offer me a solution in the form of replacing a faulty part with a part from a Lada,

I only think - you have bought a import car for make from its a lada))) No, I,m not like that))

 

Then after talking with good people, I made the factory handbrake fixtures.

 

 

 

So that was work, which I was made about the handbrake, because it's necessary joint.

  I want to resume a story of my smurf...

In the April of last Year, I found some elements of the cabin.

It was a very lucky case.

And first of that positions is... - we call it "door card", what is screwed to the door from the cabin.

  They are in excellent condition:

  Also in my cabin was missing a central console, we call it a "beard")) and it was installed with new handle of gear lever:

Then I installed a damping ring on the shift rod or gear gate(I don't know how is correct call).

In advising to all - install this ring on autos, and you will see how it works. Part number: N 901 237 01

In the underbonnet space was missing protective fan hood, which was installed:

And I have changed a link arms , because alignment technical assistant advised to me:

Link arms(left arm) which was Installed by previous owner , is adapted to tie rod of Audi B3, so it's some resourceful, I think so. But I don't started to find a new tie rod - because a silent block has lost its grip, and solution of this situation is replacement of the rubber detail, which is fundamentally out of stock...

Hi all.

  I was offline for a while, but I came back with new post, and it's a topic about the body works.

  In November '18 i have run car into garage and knocked down a vehicle.

  Body of my Polo is in sorry state really.

The passenger side have such look:

 

And next photo is a driver side:

Wheel arches have a local rust, but the bottom of them needs to be changed.

Body was impact In the left side member, in the past somebody has tried to repair it.

So here i finished a exploration of body, next i started a restoration...

 

Hi friends! I continue my restoration story...

  First place from which i have been started - it's right front body mounting for jack:

It is was drilled out:

And needed to be restore this element...

Damaged metal was changed on normal.

For more hardness on the inside was added three stiffening rib:

Also bottom of wheel arch was cutted off:

Then i installed body mounting back, beforehand make a rust protection.

So, after works with body mounting, the wheel arch was closed by a new iron:

Next element, which was drilled out - I don't know how it named in English, but I can show - how I restored it:

Side, which is closer to the roadside - was in  rust, and it was rebuilded.

  Big rust on the floor was eliminated, and was installed good iron elements:

And then that roll-formed channel was installed back:

All metal was protected by wash primer and protective wax coating.

After front mounting of the seat I saw the rust under the right seat slide:

And drilled it out

 

Then I cleaned it of rust:

And installed it back.
