I was running bike carbs so had all coolant pipes connected and some blocked to run the carbs, I've now sold the bike carbs and going to use a Weber carb, do I need to re plumb the coolant system back into the original manifold or can I run it dry seeing the Weber does not have the heating element.

 

Be very handy it I could as I wouldn't have to drain the system

 

or will this not end well

It will run, but economy will be poor especially in cold weather.

As the fuel condenses and pools rather than staying an emulsified mist.

 

The hedgehog heater in manifold will help while starting and warm-up.

 Early none water heated Polo inlet manifolds had an exhaust heat riser.

i go by the opinion that vw enginners spend alot of time thinking about stuff like that , its not put on there for no reason so yeah they probably know more than me and go with it

Cheers ,This is all true guess I was looking for an easy way out 😊 the bike carbs Wer  heavy on fuel. 

Certain it is the bike carbs running rich and not a fuel leak like a split hose or tank filler neck become porous?
