Mk2 Polo inlet heater relay

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm trying to work out what's going on with my car's inlet heater.

I think the relay is missing. Is it the socket by the fuse box (passenger side)?

If so, what's the part no/other identifying thingy for the relay, so I can get a new one? I tried getting one off of Heritage but it is the wrong pin out.

Looking at the wiring diagram it's a standard 4 pin relay,  VW part no 141 951 253 B

Just a guess, but it is relay J81 in the Haynes book of lies wiring diagrams. It might have 81 written on it in large digits!

Its the same relay that operates a bunch of cabin electrics I think - attached to a plate behind the passenger glovebox in the cabin (next to the indicator relay).

What are the symptoms of your heater problems? No fan speed at all?

Ahh sorry - misunderstood! 👍

Great picture. (Though there are two #15 in that picture.)

What are 8, 9, 11, 14, 13, 16 relays for?

(Are any of them the X-contact relief relay, for example)

#6 (next to the fuses) is headlight washer relay.  VAG part 701955200
