radiator thermostatic switch

Featured Replies

bought a genuine radiator thermal switch for polo 6n1 radiator, part number 867 959 481

i noticed it only had two pins as opposed to the three pin that was originally in.

saw a few more on ebay registered for the polo 6n and again noticed two pints on them.

is this right?

  • good chance the plugs arent the same ....if the plug fits then yeah you can convert it to single speed , would be much nicer to use the correct switch

  • That is not quite true, some 6N1's did come with a 2 speed fan without having A/C have a look under the battery tray area and see if you have one of these fitted  That is a fan control modu

2 pin = single speed fan , 3 = two speed fan

ah just wasted 15 quid. will try and cancel the ebay order lol

just read this from a vw golf forum

3 pin 2speed fans are for a/c equipped cars.
single speed fans and 2 pins are for non-a/c cars.
a/c delete usually still have the 2 sped fan

That is a fan control module, but you can also have a two speed setup without one of these, as you have 3 wires on your connector it is set for two speeds

I remved battery and tray when getting engine out, didnt see one of these connectors. . anyway  I didn't cancel the order, just thought for sake of another £15.00 , just buy the right thing.
